PROSPECTUS

The prospectus is the primary document in a proposal to create an interdisciplinary center.  The prospectus outlines the strategic and business plan for the proposed interdisciplinary center, and will generally include the following elements:

  • Complete description, mission statement, and goals for the proposed unit, including a statement of what could be accomplished by this unit that could not be accomplished without it;
  • A narrative indicating the relationship of the proposed unit to core departments and schools, in terms of both research and teaching;
  • A list of the unit's core personnel, including director(s) faculty, and staff, their departmental affiliations, and their contributions to the unit;
  • Proposed itemized budget, indicating all internal and external funding sources;
  • Relevant supporting documents outlining reporting lines, budgetary relations, and space allocations from appropriate deans and department chairs;
  • Benchmarks and timeline that the unit proposes for measuring success and assuring that its contributions are sustained;
  • Proposed administrative reporting lines within the University;
  • Strategic plan for securing external funding (when appropriate) or seed funding.

Note: this process is not the appropriate vehicle to submit a request for funding.
