RESOURCES
As Interdisciplinary Studies continues to grow, so do the resources and institutional support surrounding it. 2008 marked 20 years of interdisciplinary studies as a strategic focus of the university, as reflected in the strategic documents. Duke was the first in the nation to appoint a full-time Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies, in 1998, and is continuing that leadership through the new Office of Interdisciplinary Program Management. New funding opportunities for interdisciplinary activities are also being created, such as the Provost’s Common Fund small grants, which began in fall 2008.
