Rick Tysor, Executive Director for the Office of Interdisciplinary Program Management: Mr. Tysor leads the Office of Interdisciplinary Program Management (OIPM), and is responsible for administrative oversight and support of the University Institutes and Centers (UICs). He reports to the Executive Vice Provost for Finance and Administration and the School of Medicine’s Executive Vice Dean, Administration, and works closely with their respective staffs, the Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies and staff, the Institute directors and their lead administrators, and university administration.
Mr. Tysor has over twenty years of experience in administration, business operations management and analysis, and strategic planning. Prior to joining OIPM, Mr. Tysor served as the Assistant Dean for Business and Finance at UNC’s School of Public Health, the Assistant Director of the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute’s Center of Marine Biotechnology, in business management positions at Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, and in major industry and charitable organizations. Mr. Tysor has a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University and an MS in Business and Financial Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Kathy Sparrow, Director of Human Resources, OIPM: Ms. Sparrow manages the Human Resources (HR) functions of the Office of Interdisciplinary Program Management (OIPM) to help ensure the administrative staffing and processes are effective and efficient in supporting interdisciplinary activities within, across and beyond the University Institutes and Centers (UICs). She provides expertise on HR policies and programs for all UIC units, serving as liaison between the UICs and central HR or other administrative offices as appropriate. She works closely with UIC administrative personnel, management center staff, Duke Corporate HR, and other administrative offices to facilitate HR policies, programs and activities as appropriate, including recruitment, selection and hiring of staff, job classification, salary administration, performance management and career development.
Prior to joining OIPM, Ms. Sparrow served for 8 years as HR Departmental Manager for Duke Health Technology Solutions and 20 years in HR Rewards & Recognition, where she supervised the campus wage and salary administration function for over 10 years. Ms. Sparrow is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.
Jenise Washington is the Financial Analyst for the Office Interdisciplinary Program Management (OIPM). She is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in implementing the financial responsibilities of OIPM, providing expertise on budget and financial systems and procedures while serving as the University Institutes and Centers’ (UICs) point of contact for routine business and financial operational and analysis questions.
Ms. Washington came to Duke via UNC in 2002, and has served as an Accounting Specialist and Supervisor in the Department of Anesthesiology, and as a Financial Analyst in the Duke Human Vaccine Institute. Ms. Washington is highly trained in financial analysis, grant management, and Duke’s systems, policies and procedures. Ms. Washington is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from NC Wesleyan College.
Wendy P. Bradsher is the Office Administrator for the Office of Interdisciplinary Program Management (OIPM). She supports the OIPM Executive Director, Director of Human Resources, the Financial Analyst and the Special Assistant to the Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies, and interfaces regularly with staff throughout the university.
Ms. Bradsher joined the OIPM after working in the Infectious Diseases Division of Duke University Medical Center for 10 years. She served as the Clinical Medical Office Coordinator with the Infectious Diseases Clinic for 3 years and assisted the Departmental Administrator for the Infectious Diseases Division for 7 years. The prior eight years were spent working with Cardiology Doctors and research within the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). Ms. Bradsher is a graduate of Liberty University with a BS in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration.
